Finnish symphonic metal band Apocalyptica is set to perform Metallica’s greatest hits in Los Angeles this February

Finnish symphonic metal band Apocalyptica is set to perform Metallica’s greatest hits in Los Angeles this February. The concert will take place at The Orpheum Theatre on Friday, February 28, 2025, with tickets going on sale this Friday, June 14, at 10 a.m. via livenation.com.

Apocalyptica, originally formed in the ’90s as a classical music Metallica tribute band, features cellists Eicca Toppinen, Paavo Lötjönen, Max Lilja, and Antero Manninen. Their debut album, “Plays Metallica by Four Cellos,” was released in 1996. Now, almost 20 years later, they have followed up with “Plays Metallica Vol. 2,” released on June 7, 2024.

Eicca Toppinen expressed excitement about the new album in an Instagram post, stating, “One of the coolest things about this Apocalyptica album is the involvement from Metallica, not only supporting us but doing some very special features. This album is meant to honor Metallica’s music, and to have their impact on a couple of the tracks is amazing.” The album includes covers of Metallica classics like “The Four Horsemen,” “The Unforgiven II,” and a new recording of “One” featuring Metallica’s James Hetfield and Robert Trujillo.

Beyond Metallica covers, Apocalyptica has ventured into other metal tributes, covering bands like Faith No More, Sepultura, and Pantera. In 2003, they released “Reflections,” an experimental album of original songs featuring Slayer’s co-founding drummer Dave Lombardo. Over the years, they have collaborated with several prominent metal artists, including Bullet for My Valentine, Till Lindemann of Rammstein, and Corey Taylor of Slipknot and Stone Sour.

Don’t miss this unique blend of classical and metal as Apocalyptica brings Metallica’s greatest hits to life in Los Angeles this February.
