Metallica Joins Fortnite as Festival Icons for Season 4

Epic Games has announced that legendary rock band Metallica will be the featured “icon” for Fortnite Festival Season 4.

The Metallica-themed season will commence on June 13, bringing a host of exciting new content for fans. Epic Games has teased the inclusion of new playable Jam Tracks packed with Metallica’s music. Additionally, the Season 4 Festival Pass promises exclusive rewards, potentially including outfits and cosmetics inspired by band members James Hetfield, Lars Ulrich, Kirk Hammett, and Robert Trujillo.

A new PvP Bаttle Stage is also on the horizon, according to hints from Epic Games.

On June 22 and 23, players can enjoy a special Metallica music experience with six half-hour shows scheduled over the two days. Beyond the Fortnite Festival, Metallica-themed content will also be available in Bаttle Royale, LEGO Fortnite, Rocket League, and Racing modes.

While specifics about the concert format and setlist remain a mystеry, Fortnite has hinted at a spectacular stage setup through a recent post on social media platform X.

Fortnite has a history of collaborating with music icons for in-game experiences. Previous seasons have featured artists like The Weeknd, Lady Gaga, and Billie Eilish. Metallica’s inclusion is expected to bring a heavier sound and attract new players to the game.

Fortnite, known for its bаttle royale gameplay, has evolved into a significant platform for the music industry. In April, Karta, a metaverse studio specializing in in-game experiential marketing, announced that its Fortnite game, Beаt Builder, had surpassed 100,000 players. Karta launched its Fortnite studio in August 2023.

In January, Sony Music revealed “next generation immersive music experiences” for Fortnite, designed to help artists engage more deeply with fans through gaming platforms and virtual production technologies.

Other notable artists who have appeared in Fortnite include Bruno Mars and Anderson .Paak (through a partnership with Atlantic Records), British alt-pop band easy life, DJ star Marshmello, and K-pop superstars BTS, who premiered the video for their single “Dynamite” on Fortnite’s Party Royale Main Stage in 2020.
