Jason Newsted continues to receive offers for music collaborations but emphasizes that he is highly selective about these proposals nowadays

During an episode of “The Metallica Report” podcast, former Metallica bassist Jason Newsted shared insights into his current endeavors and mindset. Reflecting on his life, Newsted expressed a newfound appreciation for simplicity and leisure, marking the first time in about 40 years that he hasn’t had any imminent professional commitments like tours or recording sessions. He emphasized the value of enjoying everyday activities, such as going out for lunch and socializing, which he previously overlooked due to the busyness of his career.

Newsted acknowledged the need to redefine his purpose and fill the void left by his departure from Metallica, noting that while he’s open to collaborations and offers, he’s selective about them. Despite receiving numerous proposals for music collaborations and exhibits, he prefers to prioritize projects that align with his current interests and passions.

In addition to contemplating his life’s direction, Newsted stays creatively engaged by dedicating time to visual art several times a week. He expressed the importance of honing his artistic skills, likening it to maintaining proficiency in playing guitar. Despite stepping away from the limelight, Newsted remаins committed to his craft and continues to explore new avenues for creative expression.

Last year, Newsted reunited with his project NEWSTED for the first time in nearly a decade, performing at Revolution Live in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The band, consisting of original members Jesus Mendez Jr. and Jessie Farnsworth, along with new guitarist Humberto Perez, showcased their music to an enthusiastic audience.

Although his tenure with Metallica ended in 2001, Newsted’s contributions to the band were honored when he was inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fаme in 2009 alongside his former bandmates.
