Real Madrid are planning to sign not one, but two big-name players in 2025 as they continue to establish themselves as one of the most feared teams in the world.

Los Blancos president Florentino Perez is reportedly “doing everything” to sign one of the world’s best defensive midfielders. According to Football Transfers, Perez has instructed his recruitment team to do “everything possible” to bring Man City’s Rodri to the club next summer.

The 28-year-old, who has three years left on his current deal with the Blues, is said to want to return to Spain and the prospect is being “seriously considered”.

Despite this, Man City are prepared to make Rodri one of the highest-paid players at the club, who has been an integral part of Pep Guardiola’s squad in recent years.

In addition to Rodri, the Spanish giants are also keen to bring Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Florian Wirtz to the Bernabeu in the summer of 2025.

Wirtz helped Xabi Alonso’s side to a historic unbeaten run in the Bundesliga last season. He was also named the Bundesliga’s Player of the Season after scoring 11 goals and providing 12 assists.

The 21-year-old, who is also attracting the attention of Bayern Munich, went on to be one of Germany’s standout performers at EURO 2024.

Real Madrid will try to sign Wirtz next summer if the opportunity arises. Relevo reports that Los Blancos appear to be “in a strong position” to make the move.

Rodri and Wirtz are seen by Real Madrid as “excellent options” to improve their already strong midfield. The Whites currently have Fede Valverde, Jude Bellingham, Eduardo Camavinga, Luca Modric and Aurelien Tchouaméni.
