According to reliable journalist David Ornstein, Arsenal are considering bringing back goalkeeper Dan Bentley, who came through their Hale End academy, as a backup option for David Raya next season.
Bentley, currently 30 years old, plays for Wolverhampton Wanderers. He is reportedly keen on a return to Arsenal, even if it means being the third-choice goalkeeper.
Bentley joined Arsenal’s youth academy in 2001 and spent seven years there until 2008. This means he would automatically qualify as a homegrown player if he returned to the Emirates.
Beyond his skills on the pitch, Bentley is also valued for his excellent character and being a great fit for Arsenal’s current young squad culture.
However, Wolves wouldn’t want to lose their experienced goalkeeper this summer. Therefore, Arsenal would need to make a reasonable offer to convince them to sell.
Bringing in Bentley could be seen as a move to strengthen Arsenal’s depth in the goalkeeping position. David Raya is currently the number one goalkeeper, while Aaron Ramsdale is rumored to be leaving the club.
