Metallica Joined by Diamond Head Guitarist in Oslo, Hacked by Crypto Scammers on X

On Wednesday, Metallica brought their M72 World Tour to Oslo with a special treat for their fans. The band was joined on stage by Diamond Head guitarist Brian Tatler for a cover of Diamond Head’s 1980 classic “Am I Evil?” Metallica had famously released their own version of the song in 1984 as a B-side to “Creeping Deаth.”

However, the day was marred by an unfortunate incident. Metallica’s account on X (formerly known as Twitter) was hacked by crypto scаmmers who used it to promote a Solana meme coin. According to Decrypt, while most of the fraudulent tweets were deleted within 90 minutes, the scаm still resulted in over $10 million in trading volume before the token’s value crashed. Some of the misleading tweets remain online.

This isn’t the first time Metallica has dealt with crypto scams. In 2022, the band warned their followers to be cautious, as scammers were posing as Metallica to lure fans into fraudulent crypto schemes. One fan lost $25,500 in Bitcoin to a fake Metallica YouTube account.
