Metallica’s Marching Band Competition, which was a huge success last year, is making a comeback for a second year!

Metallica’s Marching Band Competition Returns for a Second YearAccording to a recent press release, the Metallica Marching Band Competition saw nearly 500 colleges and high schools across the U.S. create dynamic and unique performances of Metallica’s music, competing for prizes worth nearly $200,000. 

This year, the competition promises to be even bigger, bolder, and brassier. Sign-ups are open from June 6 through the week of September 23 at metallicamarchingband.com, with submissions due the week of November 25.The competition categories have been expanded to give more bands a chance to win. The five original categories—College (Division 1), College (Divisions 2 & 3), High School (Large), High School (Medium), and High School (Small)—now include awards for first, second, and third place.
 Winners in each category will be selected by the members of Metallica.The Fan Favorite award is back, with voting running from December 1 through December 31.Winners of the competition will receive instruments and gear for their schools’ music programs, provided by Metallica in partnership with Sweetwater, and sponsored by TAMA and others to be announced.
