Lil Baby help CENTRAL CEE break UK Rap streaming record that no other UK rapper has reached
Lil Baby has played a pivotal role in helping fellow rapper Central Cee achieve a historic milestone that no other UK rapper has reached. On Saturday, June 1, the chart data X (formerly Twitter) account announced that their collaboration, “BAND4BAND,” set the record for the highest single-day streams for a UK rapper’s song on Spotify, amassing 5.26 million streams.
This Һit single also climbed to No. 22 on the Billboard Hоt 100, marking Central Cee’s highest chart position in the US to date. Previously, Central Cee held the record for the biggest streaming day with his 2023 release “Sprinter,” a collaboration with fellow British rapper Dave.
Although “BAND4BAND” represents Central Cee’s most significant success in the US, he is no stranger to collaborating with rap’s biggest stars. In April, his studio session with Ice Spice sparked speculation among fans about a potential Hip Hop power couple. The Bronx rapper shared photos on Instagram, showing her with Central Cee in the studio. She captioned the post, “alright,” while Central Cee posted one of the images with the caption, “Lord forgive me as I’m a sinner.”
While it is likely that Central Cee and Ice Spice were merely working on music together, their session led fans to hope for more. One fan commented on Ice Spice’s post, “They would be so cute together,” while another wrote, “They been together a lil too much [thinking face emoji].” Some fans even referenced Central Cee’s girlfriend, social media influencer Madeline Argy, with comments like, “madeline ripping her hair out rn [crying face emoji].”
Even SZA expressed excitement about the potential collaboration, commenting, “Dis bout to eat.”
Central Cee and Ice Spice have been seen together before, notably during New York Fashion Week last year. Central Cee has publicly expressed his admiration for Ice Spice, telling Complex, “She reminds me of me a bit… she’s cool innit. Humble, down to earth, don’t really care too much about the shiny stuff; but knows how to play the game. You can hear that in the music, and see that in the moves that she makes, and I appreciate that because some people don’t really know what they’re doing, and they take it for granted or they don’t take the opportunity and run with it — but she’s really running with it right now.”
In related news, Central Cee shared texts from J. Cole, thanking him for their collaboration on “Might Delete Later,” highlighting the connections he continues to build within the industry.
