Metallica’s Robert Trujillo’s 12-Year-Old Son Joins Korn on Tour as Bassist

It seems Tye Trujillo is making quite the mark as possibly one of the youngest touring members in the realm of global rock bands.

When your father is a member of Metallica, life is likely to be a bit different from the average school-going child.

At just 12 years old, the son of Metallica’s Robert Trujillo, Tye Trujillo, has been tapped to fill in as the bassist for Korn on their upcoming South American tour. He will be stepping into the shoes of their regular bassist, Fieldy, who is unable to join the tour due to unforeseen circumstances.

Korn announced the news on Facebook, expressing their disappointment at Fieldy’s absence but also their excitement to have Tye join them on stage. They stated, “We are bummed Fieldy can’t join us on this run but excited to do a few gigs with a young player like Tye. We look forward to welcoming our brother Fieldy back when we return to the States in May.”

Despite Tye’s experience as the bassist for his own band, The Helmets, since the age of 8, some Korn fans in South America reacted negatively to the news on Facebook. They accused the band of disrespect, with one individual commenting, “the kid must be a good bass player but come on guys this is not a birthday party.”
