Controversy surrounds Mikel Arteta’s Premier League Best Coach Award at Globe Soccer Awards

The Globe Soccer Awards is an annual event that honors outstanding football individuals and organizations worldwide. This award is not limited to a specific league but is open to various leagues, recognizing achievements from clubs to individual players and managers.

During the awards ceremony at the Globe Soccer Awards, Mikel Arteta was announced as the winner of the Premier League Best Coach award.

Speaking after receiving the award, Arteta said, “We wаnted to win. Win, win, and win. That’s what we want. We have a team full of enthusiasm and desire to win titles. We believe we can do it.”

This award came as a surprise to many, as Arteta and Arsenal had a trophy-less season on all fronts. Following his win, there was considerable discussion on social media suggesting that the award was undeserved. The GOAL news site quoted several comments:

An X account named Jack Bartlett said, “Coming 2nd and winning nothing… This award is so interesting.”

An Everton fan wrote, “Arsenal have now received a sympathy award.”

An account called isshowsloww commented, “Pep won the league. More points. Created more big chances. More goals. More shots. Better in almost every stat. But we know that it is a regrettable award to compensate Arteta.”

Hansen’s account wrote, “The best coach in the Premier League without a title? This Globe Soccer Award is a big joke.”

Manchester City has dominated the Premier League recently, with Liverpool breаking their dominance only once in the 2019/2020 season. Although Arsenal chased Manchester City to the final round, Pep Guardiola’s excellence prevented Arsenal from achieving a miracle.

Arsenal is expected to return to action in July as they prepare to travel to the US for pre-season preparations. In the US, the Gunners will face Manchester United and Liverpool.
