Metallica Frontman James Hetfield Collaborates with Dubai-Bound Apocalyptica
The Finnish band Apocalyptica is set to perform in Dubai this September, and their latest single, “One,” features a special collaboration with Metallica frontman James Hetfield. This song is the third single from their highly anticipated album, Apocalyptica Plays Metallica, Vol. 2, following the releases of “The Four Horsemen” and “The Unforgiven II.”
Originally featured on Metallica’s 1988 landmark album …And Justice for All, “One” is a breathtaking reinterpretation of one of Metallica’s most iconic songs. This version includes a soul-stirring spoken-word rendition by Hetfield, adding a new dimension to the immortal lyrics.
“I think it’s incredible that James wаnted to do it,” says Apocalyptica’s Eicca Toppinen. “We always dreamed of collaborating with Metallica. The excitement came from taking a different approach, and sometimes the craziest ideas are what excite people the most.”
Perttu Kivilaakso, another member of Apocalyptica, adds, “We used everything at our disposal to make it as bombastic as possible. It had to be epic! The result was truly cinematic, with James narrating the story with those poetic lyrics. It was powerful and touching. As a fan, I have to sаy it was unbelievable to finally hear it. I was in my home crying. My hands were shaking. It was an incredible journey.”
Toppinen, Kivilaakso, and Paavo Lötjönen will bring their unique sound to The Agenda in Dubai on September 13th, where they will perform their carefully crafted interpretations of Metallica’s biggest hits. This Dubai performance is part of Apocalyptica’s European Tour, which begins in Helsinki on June 8th and concludes in Belgrade on November 30th.
Tickets for Apocalyptica’s Dubai concert are now on sale, starting from AED 299, and can be purchased here.
