Metallica Achieves Fourth #1 Billboard Single from ’72 Seasons’ Album

Metallica’s album 72 Seasons has achieved a remarkable milestone, producing four #1 hits on the Billboard charts. The latest single, “Screaming SuiciԀe,” has reached the top of Billboard’s Mainstream Rock Airplay chart, joining the ranks of the album’s previous chart-toppers: “Lux Æterna,” “Too Far Gone?” and the title track, “72 Seasons.”

This accomplishment marks the first time a Metallica album has produced four Mainstream Rock Airplay leaders. With this latest achievement, Metallica now boasts a total of 14 #1 hits on this chart, tying them for the third-most all-time with Foo Fighters and Five Finger Deаth PuncҺ. Shinedown holds the record with 19 #1s.

Released in April 2023, 72 Seasons is the follow-up to Metallica’s 2016 album, Hardwired… to Self-Destruct. The band has been supporting the album with their international M72 tour, which resumes with a European leg starting on May 24 and will return to the U.S. in August.
