Tye Trujillo, 12-year old son of Metallica’s Robert Trujillo, makes live debut with Korn. He said that: ‘I think, my son is musical prodigy’

Tye Trujillo, the 12-year-old son of Metallica’s Robert Trujillo, recently marked his live debut alongside Korn during their performance in Colombia on the 17th of April.

Korn found themselves in need of a temporary bassist for their South American tour when their regular bassist, Fieldy, had to step out due to unforeseen circumstances. Turning to the younger generation of musicians, they enlisted Tye Trujillo to fill in for Fieldy for a few gigs.

Despite his tender age, Tye impressed the audience and the band alike with his remarkable performance during Korn’s sold-out show at the Chamorro Entertainment City Hall in Bogota. He flawlessly navigated through a setlist of 16 songs, demonstrating a level of precision that belied his years.

Fan-recorded videos captured Tye’s electrifying presence on stage with Korn, showcasing his talent and enthusiasm for music.

In an interview with Huffington Post, Robert Trujillo expressed his pride and admiration for his son’s musical prowess. He described Tye as not only a skilled bass player but also a talented songwriter, highlighting the original bass lines and riffs that Tye creates. Tye’s musical influences range from iconic bassists like Jaco Pastorius to legendary bands like Black Sabbath and Led Zeppelin. He is also inspired by contemporary artists such as Queens Of The Stone Age and Tool, demonstrating a diverse musical palette at a young age.
