Arsenal star Takehiro Tomiyasu visits the ASICS Sports Science Institute to cooperate on launching new shoes

In January of 2023, Takehiro Tomiyasu signed an advisory contract with ASICS, and since then, he has been sporting ASICS boots.

The Arsenal defender wanted to learn more about his shoes, so he took a trip to Kobe, Japan’s ASICS Institute of Sport Science, one summer day after the previous season ended.

Aiming to “create quality lifestyle through intelligent sport technology,” the institute’s R&D efforts have been guided by a “human-centric science” foundation.

The essential features of ASICS’ goods have been defined through research into human characteristics, such as the deformation and load of the body during exercise, and the development of materials like resins, rubber, and sponge utilized in shoe soles and other components.

Moreover, the institute prioritizes quality control, which encompasses product durability. All the action is happening right here.”I once wore them when I was in high school,” Tomiyasu adds, referring to the ASICS boots that came from the company’s rigorous R&D program. At first glance, I thought they were high-end footwear. I too think they’re lovely, and they fit well.

In football, boots practically become an extension of the player’s body. As a means of improving his game for the Premier League, the most competitive league in the world, Tomiyasu was measured to aid in the creation of new boots.

The Japanese celebrity had his stats measured first to assess his equilibrium and other aspects of his physique. After that, he had markers put all over his body so they could record his every step while he ran and kicked the ball. Immediate flow of data allowed for rapid display of 3D images in real-time.I have no issues.

For the first time, Tomiyasu had a measurement that involved placing markers all over his body to determine his weight and strain points, as well as his way of using his body. I got a glimpse of the other side of ASICS’s meticulous attention to detail in crafting their high-quality boots.

There were no surprises because Arsenal uses the same metrics, but Tomiyasu was amazed by ASICS’s meticulousness. “They are very thorough about the data and communication with the players, so I was able to trust them even more, and it was a really good time,” said the coach.

The measurement results informed the conversations between the versatile defender and the spike creators.

“The boots I’m wearing right now are great,” he said. Still, ASICS is always in the market for an improvement. I felt the need to express myself, so I made a few demands; otherwise, I believe we had a fruitful conversation.Shoes from ASICSWhile taking the measurement, Tomiyasu wore the brand new DS Light X-Fly Pro 2 boots from ASICS. In order to help players become better sprinters, this series is made to improve running performance.

He described them as having a “strong sensation of just sliding in and fitting perfectly,” in addition to a snug fit around the heel and toe areas.

“The fit is just as excellent as ever. Hopefully, I can do well on the pitch while wearing these boots, since they were developed using data obtained by ASICS.

Tomiyasu, who plans to showcase his speed this season while donning the DS Light X-Fly Pro 2 footwear, will likely draw inspiration from the trust he gained during his time at the institute.
