Arsenal dominate Chelsea with a resounding 5-0 vctory, extending lead at the top of the Premier League and widening the gap over Man City and Liverpool

An underage Chelsea supporter held up a placard reading “I don’t want to ask for your shirt, but figҺt for it” during the second half of the match on April 23 at Emirates Stadium. The away team section was seeing a small exodus of fans at that moment.

In the first round of the Premier League in October 2023, Chelsea hosted Arsenal and performed admirably, leading by two goals before drawing 2-2. However, they played deаd in this rematch, giving the host the upper hand. Chelsea managed just one shot on goal whole match long, coming from David Raya, whereas Arsenal managed 27 efforts, 10 of which were on target.

Arsenal reached 77 points, three more than Liverpool and four more than Man City, despite playing one and two more matches, respectively, thanks to the largest victory in history against a competitor from the same city of London. When they had the chance to draw level with Man Utd and Newcastle, both of which had 50 points, Chelsea squandered it and remained in ninth place with 47 points. For the second year in a row, Mauricio Pochettino’s squad will likely not compete in the European Cup.

From the very beginning, the contest was one-sided, in contrast to earlier intense derby encounters. Arsenal scored 13 goals in the first half against Chelsea in the Premier League match, their most in a half since the 2003–2004 season. The first goal was scored by the home team as early as the fourth minute. After receiving the ball near the penalty area, Declan Rice passed it to Leandro Troussard, who took a shot from a tight angle and beаt goalie Djordje Petrovic.

Because of how badly Petrovic closed the angle, the television camera continued to criticize him for a long time after the incident had ended. On the other hand, Chelsea’s first-half goals from Kai Havertz and Troussard would have gone in had the Serbian goalie not been in the game.

Arsenal came out stronger in the second half and scored twice, the second of which came in the 52nd minute. Rice was able to run up and Һit Conor Gallagher’s foot after Bukayo Saka released the second line from a right wing corner kιck. When the ball reached the English defender Ben White on the right side of the penalty area, he wasted no time sending a diagonal shot into the goal with his left foot.

After this goal, Chelsea’s determination to figҺt was practically snuffed out, and Arsenal went on to score three more goals with ease. Havertz shrewdly defended Marc Cucurella before kicking a cross from Martin Odegaard into the top corner of Chelsea’s net in the 57th minute.

With the ball cutting across the goal and a diagonal kιck from the left foot, the German striker finished off his double in the 65th minute. While playing for Chelsea in the Premier League, Havertz became the first player to score twice against the Blues. In addition, he scored one goal in the Champions League and eleven in the Premier League this season, bringing his total goals scored to twelve for the season.

In the 70th minute, the celebration at Emirates Stadium continued as Odegaard sent a cross from the right side that White controlled with a single touch. Petrovic stumbled and scored for the fifth time as the ball soared to the far corner. Along with his four assists this season in the Premier League, this is the first time White has scored a double while wearing the Arsenal jersey. His scoring record now stands at four.
