Metallica’s James Hetfield Honors Lemmy Kilmister with New Tattoo Featuring His аshes

Metallica’s frontman James Hetfield has unveiled his latest tattoo, paying homage to the late Motörhead legend Lemmy Kilmister.

Today, on April 17, Hetfield shared the tattoo on Metallica’s Instagram account, showcasing it on his middle finger. The tattoo depicts a spade within what appears to be an iron cross symbol, a motif Hetfield has previously incorporated into his guitars. Additionally, the singer sports another iron cross tattoo on his elbow.

However, this tattoo isn’t just a tribute to Lemmy; it also contains a portion of Kilmister’s аshes, as revealed by Hetfield. In his Instagram post, the Metallica veteran wrote, “With the skilled hand of friend and tattoo artist @coreymillertattoo, this tattoo. A salute to my friend and inspiration Mr. Lemmy Kilmister. Without him, there would be NO Metallica.”

“Black ink mixed with a pinch of his cremation аshes that were so graciously given to me. So now, he is still able to fly the bird at the world.”

Metallica has openly acknowledged the significant role Lemmy Kilmister played in their band’s history since the Motörhead singer and bassist passed away from cаncer in 2015. Hetfield and Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich have previously stated that Motörhead was the inspiration behind Metallica’s formation.
