Lars Ulrich, Chad Smith, and Fran Drescher are set to appear in the upcoming sequel to This Is Spinal Tap. Paul Shaffer will return to play the role of Artie Fufkin.
The list of musicians and actors appearing in the next installment of This Is Spinal Tap has been eagerly anticipated, with news that Lars Ulrich of Metallica, Chad Smith of Red Hоt Chili Peppers, Fran Drescher of The Nanny, among others, will be featured.
Anyone who has seen the original film knows that drummers undergo some unfortunate fates in the world of Spinal Tap, so it may not bode well for Ulrich and Smith. Meanwhile, Drescher is taking on her comedic role as the record company executive and “friendliest publicist” Bobbi Flekman.
Other newly revealed characters for the film include Don Lake (The Bonnie Һunt Show), John Michael Higgins (Best in Show), Jason Acuña (Jаckаss), Nina Conti (Family Tree), Griffin Matthews (The Flight Attendant), Kerry Godliman (After Life), Chris Addison (Veep), and comedian Brad Williams, according to Deadline.
Additionally, Paul Shaffer will return as the promotional representative for the record company, Artie Fufkin, who famously uttered one of the film’s memorable lines: “Do me a favor, just kιck my аss!”
As previously reported, the film will also feature guest appearances from Sir Elton John, Sir Paul McCartney, Questlove, Garth Brooks, and Trisha Yearwood.
Filming for the sequel has begun in New Orleans, with the New York Post obtaining some on-set photos of Christopher Guest, Michael McKean, and Harry Shearer portraying the members of the Spinal Tap band as Nigel Tufnel, David St. Hubbins, and Derek Smalls, respectively, along with scenes of Rоb Reiner as director Marty DiBergi and Shaffer as Fufkin.
