Jay Weinberg and Robert Trujillo to Join Infectious Grooves for Special Byron Bay Bluesfest Performance

Jay Weinberg, the former drummer of Slipknot, is set to make his musical comeback with Infectious Grooves at this year’s Byron Bay Bluesfest on April 1. Weinberg, who was previously let go from Slipknot, will share the stage with Metallica bassist Robert Trujillo, a co-founder of Infectious Grooves, and guitarist Dave Kushner from Velvet Revolver.

Byron Bay Bluesfest, celebrating its 35th anniversary, will take place at the usual venue, Byron Events Farm in Tyagarah, New South Wales, Australia, spanning the Easter long weekend from March 28 to April 1.

Infectious Grooves, known for their fusion of funk and punk, unveiled the addition of Weinberg and Kushner to their lineup through a social media announcement. The band expressed excitement about this unique collaboration, emphasizing the extraordinary blend of funk and punk that fans can expect during the performance.

The announcement clarified that drummer Brooks Wakerman, a regular member of Infectious Grooves, couldn’t participate in this series of shows due to prior commitments with Avenged Sevenfold. Despite the challenge of finding a suitable replacement for the drumming position, the band proudly revealed that Jay Weinberg, known for his exceptional drumming skills, would be taking on the role for this special occasion.

Joining Weinberg on stage will be Suicidаl Tendencies’ Mike Muir on vocals, Dean Pleasants on guitar, Robert Trujillo on bass, and Dave Kushner on guitar. The lineup promises to bring a unique combination of talent and experience, with Trujillo’s extensive history with Infectious Grooves and Kushner’s previous involvement in the band’s early albums.

The band acknowledged the limitations of their schedule, resulting in a small number of performances. However, they assured fans that more dates would be announced soon. Infectious Grooves expressed their gratitude for the opportunity to collaborate with Weinberg and Kushner, and Jay Weinberg himself conveyed his excitement and honor to join the legendary Infectious Grooves for this Australian tour.

As fans eagerly await these special performances, Infectious Grooves encouraged everyone to mark their calendars and not miss out on what promises to be an unforgettable musical experience.
