Turkish City Features Adjoining Apartment Complexes Named ‘Metallica’ and ‘Nirvana’

In the city of Mersin, Turkey, an extraordinary homage to rock legends has taken shape in the form of side-by-side apartment buildings named ‘Metallica’ and ‘Nirvana.’ The brainchild behind the Metallica-themed residence is a devoted 56-year-old metal fan and contractor, Mosbah Drav, who proudly adorned the building’s rooftop with the iconic Metallica logo in neon.

While Drav is credited with the Metallica-themed complex, the neighboring building flaunts a neon sign bearing the name ‘Nirvana.’ However, Drav clarified that he is not responsible for the Nirvana signage, attributing it to a different contractor who, in his belief, may not be aware of the term’s musical significance.

In an interview with Turkish publication VOA Türkçe, Drav openly acknowledged that Metallica was the primary inspiration behind his construction project. “When I started this building, this construction, I planned to give the name Metallica,” he revealed, citing his profound admiration for the band’s music, including hard rock, speed metal, Megadeth, and Def Leppard.

Adding an intriguing twist to his thematic constructions, Drav hinted at his next venture—a building inspired by the legendary rock band Guns N’ Roses.

The essay does not provide information on whether Metallica has officially endorsed or sanctioned the use of their logo for this particular purpose. Additionally, while the term “Nirvana” is trademarked by the band, it seems the legal parameters may be confined to musical usage, leaving room for creative interpretations in unrelated contexts.
