Metallica, Fall Out Boy, Linkin Park lead year-end ’Billboard’ Rock airplay charts

In the recently unveiled year-end charts by Billboard for 2023, Linkin Park, Fall Out Boy, and Metallica have emerged as the leaders in various Rock airplay categories.

Linkin Park secured the top spot on the Rock & Alternative Airplay Artists ranking, driven by the success of their single “Lost.” This track, a newly released demo from the Meteora sessions, features lead vocals by the late Chester Bennington.

Following closely on the chart at #2 are the Foo Fighters. The remainder of the top 10 includes Fall Out Boy, Metallica, blink-182, Beach Weather, Jelly Roll, Bad Omens, Disturbed, and Godsmack.

Fall Out Boy and Metallica continue to dominate, leading the dedicated Alternative Airplay Artists and Mainstream Rock Airplay Artists lists, respectively.

The Alternative Airplay Artists cut also features notable names such as Linkin Park, Beach Weather, Foo Fighters, blink-182, All Time Low, Dirty Heads, Paramore, Bad Omens, and Weezer. Meanwhile, the rest of the Mainstream Rock Airplay Artists include Bad Omens, Disturbed, HARDY, Foo Fighters, Linkin Park, Jelly Roll, Godsmack, Pop Evil, and Falling in Reverse.

Billboard has additionally shared a year-end chart for what it deems 2023’s Top Rock & Alternative Artists. This ranking is determined by the “performance on the Hot Rock & Alternative Songs, Top Rock & Alternative Albums, and Boxscore touring revenue.” Country star Zach Bryan claimed the #1 position on this list, followed by Jelly Roll, Steve Lacy, Noah Kahan, and renowned rock and alternative artist Taylor Swift.
