Grammy-nominated rapper 2 Chainz has made a noteworthy move into the Hollywood Hills by acquiring a stunning Mediterranean-style mansion for $2.45 million. The property, previously owned by rock guitarist Steve Vai and named Mothership Studio, comes complete with a remarkable 1,400-square-foot recording studio.
The three-bedroom, 4.5 bath home, nestled in Beachwood Canyon, offers breathtaking canyon and city views from multiple decks and balconies. Built in 1986, the mansion underwent a full renovation last year, now boasting an open floor plan that enhances its appeal.
The heart of the home lies in its kitchen and living room, featuring large, folding glass doors that lead to a spacious, elevated patio. The master suite is an exquisite sanctuary, boasting a fireplace, dual closets, and a luxurious limestone master bathroom with a soaking tub.
The pinnacle of the property resides on the second floor, where the impressive recording studio resides. With its separate entrance, live room, mic room, control room, kitchen, full bathroom, and lounge area, the studio promises an ideal space for 2 Chainz’s creative endeavors. Additionally, a four-car garage is situated at street level.
The previous owner, Steve Vai, acquired the home in 1987, and over the years, he transformed the property into a haven for musicians, leasing it to renowned artists like Ozzy Osbourne, Eddie Van Halen, Slash, and Sugar Ray. Following a comprehensive renovation, Vai sold the property in 2015 for $1.5 million.
In September of the current year, after a meticulous yearlong renovation, the mansion was listed for $2.5 million. However, it didn’t stay on the market for long, as 2 Chainz swiftly purchased the property for $2.45 million, as per public records.
2 Chainz, aged 39, continues to flourish in his career, recently releasing his third studio album, “ColleGrove.” The rapper’s debut album, “Based on a T.R.U. Story,” topped the charts in the United States and achieved Platinum certification. With a wealth of musical talent, 2 Chainz collaborates extensively as a featured artist in various tracks alongside notable artists like Jeezy, Future, Chance the Rapper, and Lil Wayne.
