METALLICA: Timelapse of the Setup and Teardown of the Monstrous ‘M72 World Tour’ Stage

Curious about how the colossal stage for METALLICA’s latest tour, the ‘M72 World Tour,’ is assembled and disassembled? This video showcases (almost) everything.

AFord Field in Detroit, Michigan, uploaded a 42-second timelapse video capturing the assembly and disassembly of METALLICA’s stage for the M72 World Tour. This footage covers the process that took place on November 10th and 12th for the band’s “No Repeat Weekend” concerts at the venue. The M72 World Tour kicked off in late April of this year in Amsterdam and has taken the band around the world, featuring two-night performances in every city it visits.

Each “No Repeat Weekend” boasts two entirely different setlists, ensuring that METALLICA fans purchasing a two-day ticket will experience a unique musical journey. A statement released when the tour was initially announced emphasized the band’s commitment: “METALLICA promises to all fans buying a two-day ticket that they will not see the same song twice, with a total of over thirty songs spanning the group’s more than 40-year career.”

As promised, the band has delivered on this commitment, as documented in videos captured during the “No Repeat Weekend” performances in Montreal, Canada; Arlington, New Jersey; Los Angeles and Phoenix in the United States; Gothenburg, Sweden; Castle Donington, United Kingdom; Hamburg and Paris in Europe, and Amsterdam, where METALLICA hosted two talked-about concerts.

With their “new and bold stage design,” bringing back the iconic ‘Snake Pit’ to the forefront, the musicians traveled to Paris the following weekend. On May 17th, they performed the first of two scheduled shows at Stade de France, presenting a setlist with variations from the tour’s opening night.

The timelapse video captures the meticulous work involved in setting up and dismantling the elaborate stage, providing fans with a unique behind-the-scenes glimpse of the monumental effort that goes into bringing the M72 World Tour to life.
