Michigan-based boot company Wolverine has joined forces with Metallica’s foundation to produce a limited-edition sneaker, marking a collaboration between a company with a 140-year history in the state and the renowned rock band’s “All Within My Hands” nonprofit. The exclusive high-top sneaker, adorned with debossed artwork by Brandon Heart, a collaborator and artist for Metallica, has been unveiled by the boot company in a recent announcement.
Featuring a distinctive “Wolverine x Metallica Scholars” woven label on the tongue and a premium leather upper, each pair of sneakers boasts a leather lining for added comfort, facilitating an easier break-in experience. Priced at $160, these limited-edition sneakers are set to contribute significantly to workforce education, as 50% of the proceeds will be donated to Metallica Scholars, a segment of the band’s foundation dedicated to advancing workforce education.
Scott Schoessel, VP of Global Marketing for Wolverine, expressed the company’s commitment to supporting the next generation of skilled trades workers and bridging the gap in the skilled trades sector. The ongoing collaboration with Metallica Scholars plays a pivotal role in this mission. Describing the collection as a harmonious blend of heavy metal, quality, and purpose, Schoessel highlighted the significance of the partnership.
In addition to the sneakers, the collection extends to include a jacket, a trucker hat, and more. The entire range is available for viewing on their official platform. Wolverine’s partnership with Metallica goes beyond the realm of sneakers, as they previously collaborated on merchandise for the band’s recent world tour. All proceeds from the Wolverine x Metallica Scholars items contribute to the foundation’s workforce education initiative.
Wolverine’s commitment to supporting skilled trades organizations is evident in their substantial donations over the past five years, amounting to almost $2 million. Since 2019, the boot company has contributed $750,000 to Metallica’s All Within My Hands foundation, further solidifying their dedication to fostering education and skill development in the workforce.
